MARS Scanner Supported Drivers

To interface with physical scanning devices, the Helix MARS Scanner application relies on industry-standard scanner drivers installed on the workstation or server connected to the hardware.

Standard Supported Drivers:

  • TWAIN: A widely adopted standard application programming interface (API) and communications protocol for communication between software applications and image acquisition devices (like scanners and digital cameras). Most desktop and workgroup scanners support TWAIN.
  • ISIS (Image and Scanner Interface Specification): Another established interface standard, often favored for higher-volume production scanning environments due to its perceived robustness and performance characteristics. Many departmental and production-level scanners support ISIS drivers.

Support for these standard drivers ensures compatibility with a broad range of scanning hardware from various manufacturers, allowing organizations to leverage their existing scanner investments with the MARS Scanner application.
