Product Overview: MARS Real-Time Viewer (RTV)

The MARS Real-Time Viewer (RTV) is a versatile viewing component designed to display documents of various types on demand, often directly from their source or archive location without requiring prior migration or format conversion. It is central to Helix's federation and application retirement strategies.

Key Capabilities:

  • Wide Format Support: Natively supports numerous file types including print streams (AFP, EBCDIC, Xerox, PCL, Line Data), standard documents (PDF, Office formats), images (TIFF, JPEG), and others.
  • Flexible Deployment: Can be used as a standalone application, embedded within web pages as an HTML iFrame, or integrated into any UI or browser via the MARS Viewer APIs. Runs on multiple OS (Linux, Unix, Windows).
  • Direct Access: Can connect directly to various repositories or access data via the MARS RTV APIs, often bypassing the need for legacy ECM licenses or external system APIs for viewing.
  • Feature Tiers: Available in different versions (e.g., Light, Advanced) offering varying levels of functionality:
  • Light: Core viewing, text search (including mainframe text), basic annotations.
  • Advanced: Adds graphical annotations, redaction (True Redaction and view-time), watermarking, document manipulation (merge/split/arrange), side-by-side comparison, and live collaboration features.
  • Performance: Optimized for fast initial load speeds, even for very large documents.
