MARS Scanner Input Sources
The Helix MARS Scanner application is designed to ingest documents for digitization and data extraction from multiple sources, accommodating various enterprise capture workflows.
Primary Input Methods:
- Direct Scanning: Interfaces directly with physical scanning devices using industry-standard drivers (TWAIN, ISIS). Users can initiate scans from workstations connected to scanners (like desktop scanners or departmental MFPs - Multi-Function Printers), sending batches of images directly to the Scanner application or server for processing.
- File Import: Allows users or automated processes to import existing image files from designated network folders or file shares. This is useful for processing documents that were scanned previously, received as electronic faxes, or generated by other systems as image files (e.g., PDF, TIFF, JPEG).
- Fax/Imaging Feeds: Can be configured to monitor specific input channels, such as fax servers or other imaging system outputs, automatically ingesting documents as they arrive electronically.
This flexibility allows organizations to centralize the processing of documents regardless of whether they originate from paper scanning or existing digital image repositories.
